[STEVENSVILLE, MI, February 9, 2026] Dan Tinkey has been a staple on the Lakeshore sidelines keeping our athletes healthy and helping them recover from injury since 1978. His 48th year at Lakeshore will be his final season at Lakeshore. “Tink” will be retiring June 30, 2026. He started his career here in 1978 and is currently in his 48th year at Lakeshore. While performing his duties as the trainer, he also taught MS Physical Education and Math at Lakeshore Middle School from 1979-81. Tink also coached track at the high school from 1978-81. He has taught the CTE Athletic Training classes at both Lakeshore and St. Joseph High Schools for 12 years. “Tink” is also a member of the Michigan State Board of Athletic Training and the National Athletic Trainers Association. He has also served as a member of the Secondary Schools Athletic Trainers Committee for the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society. The wealth of knowledge and experience that he brings to the table, keeps our athletes healthy and on the road to recovery with all the right recovery processes if they have had an injury. Athletic Director Greg Younger had this to say: “It is hard to measure the full impact of Dan Tinkey’s 48-year career at Lakeshore. From his early days as a middle school teacher and track coach to his 12 years leading CTE Athletic Training classes, Dan has mentored students in many capacities. His tireless work as our athletic trainer has kept generations of Lancers healthy and on the road to recovery, leaving an indelible mark on our athletic program. We are so grateful for all the time and effort that he invested in our student athletes and he will be greatly missed but we are so excited for Dan and his wife Sue to be able to enjoy some time travelling and having fun watching their Grandkids in their sporting events!”
