In what has been a busy week of basketball, the Lakeshore Lancer girl’s basketball team picked up their second win of the season by rolling the Portage Northern Huskies 49-19 at Northern High School.
After hanging with Division 3 #3 Brandywine for three quarters Tuesday night before the Bobcat pressure took its toll, Lakeshore controlled the Huskies by outscoring the hosts 19-0, 14-6, 9-8, and 7-5. The 33-6 halftime advantage came from seven different Lancer scorers. All eight Lancers scored at least two points, with seven of the eight scoring four points or more.
The top three scorers for the Lancers were: Riley Pifer (10 points) and Morgan Tillman and Emily Waning (8 points). The Lancer defense contained the Husky attack as just two Northern players were able to score more than four points in the game.
Lakeshore will travel to Paw Paw High School next Monday, February 11th before hosting the Redkins neighbor, the Mattawan Wildcats, next Friday night in SMAC West action at 5:45 P.M.
