Since the 2013-2014 season, the Lakeshore Lancers from the SMAC have opened with the South Haven Rams from the Wolverine Conference. Entering tonight, Lakeshore held a 4-2 advantage, and the Lancers can add one more following their 59-36 home court victory. The Lancers now turn their focus to arch-rival St. Joe on Friday the 13th at the Bear Den.
South Haven’s Zander Russell and Lakeshore’s Ben Brower tied for a game high 18 points. The Lancers balanced attack with J.J. Bushu’s 14 points and Ja’Kobe Young’s 11 points, as well as a substantial paint scoring advantage (35-16) and rebounding edge (35-22), provided the distance over the Rams. Dylan Clem led all rebounders with 12. In Lakeshore’s defensive effort, only Russell scored in double figures.
The SMAC West Doubleheader this Friday at the Bear Den begins at 5:30 P.M. with the girl’s game, and the boy’s game will tip-off shortly after.
