Lakeshore Lancers JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-8 loss to Mattawan on Tuesday. Mattawan scored on an error, a groundout by A Whitlock, and a groundout by J Cavanaugh in the first inning.

Despite the loss, Lakeshore Lancers JV did collect two hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Mattawan had 13 hits on the way to victory.

Lakeshore Lancers JV notched four runs in the sixth inning. Lakeshore Lancers JV scored its runs on a grand slam by Hannah Stankiewicz.

Mattawan scored six runs in the fourth inning. K Schwartz, K Swoch, H Sweers, P Patesel, and Whitlock all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Cavanaugh got the win for Mattawan. She surrendered four runs on one hit over five innings, striking out ten. Schwartz and J Schultz entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Olivia DenDooven took the loss for Lakeshore Lancers JV. She allowed nine hits and nine runs over three and a third innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Lakeshore Lancers JV hit one home run on the day. Stankiewicz had a four bagger in the sixth inning.

Stankiewicz and DenDooven each collected one hit to lead Lakeshore Lancers JV.

Mattawan tallied 13 hits. Patesel, Swoch, Whitlock, M Beck, R Hughes, and Sweers each racked up multiple hits for Mattawan. Patesel went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mattawan in hits.
