The Maroon Giants and the Lakeshore Lancers entered Thomas Stadium both looking to step closer to a state playoff berth. Kalamazoo Central stormed out to a 14-6 lead on just one offensive play and shutout Lakeshore for the next three quarters to win 28-6 on a rainy, cold night.
Kalamazoo Central ran the quarterback for the first play of the game and scored the quick touchdown. Lakeshore marched down the field on their opening possession and scored out of the Wildcat formation. Central then ran the kickoff back for the 14-6 lead which held through halftime.
Central ran the quarterback again for a short score and the 21-6 lead in the third quarter. Central closed out the scoring with a deep touchdown pass for the final score.
Kalamazoo Central moves to 5-3 while Lakeshore falls to 4-4. Lakeshore hosts Mattawan next Friday night for the season finale at Al Stockman Stadium. A victory would give Lakeshore a chance to qualify for the playoffs and continue the longest active streak in the state.
