The Lakeshore Lancers and Mattawan Wildcats both entered tonight’s SMAC West tilt looking to advance their season for at least another week. Mattawan needed to win to guarantee an automatic playoff spot, and Lakeshore looked to become an at-large bid with a 5-4 record. Two late defensive stands by Lakeshore, including a goal-line stop, secured Lakeshore’s 31st straight winning season after the 18-13 victory over Mattawan on the wet turf of Al Stockman Stadium. Lakeshore improves to 5-4 and Mattawan falls to 5-4.
Zeke Rohl ran for two touchdowns and a Kyle Wojahn field goal provided the scoring for the Lancers. Jake Trivedi rushed for 56 yards, Zeke Rohl for 43, and Treyjen Keim added 19 to pace the Lancer ground game. Trivedi completed 5 of 7 passes for 51 yards, with Cam Dalrymple catching two for 17 yards.
Treyjen Keim led the Lakeshore defense with 8 tackles while Evin Koeppe added 7. Geritt Marshall had two tackles for a loss. J. J. Bushu caused two Wildcat turnovers, catching one interception and recovering the fumble in the endzone.
