As the wind picked up at Betty Kohn Field in game 2 of the Lancer Round Robin, so did the Lancers offense. With winds gusting out to left field, both team took advantage to get their offense going. Lakeshore’s offense had just a bit more punch to outlast Chelsea 11-10.
After spotting Chelsea 6 runs through the first three innings, the Lancers offense began to battle back. Eva Kershbaum led off the Lancer third with a double. Gianna Kerschbaum follwed with a double of her own scoring her sister from second. Hannah Stankiewicz singled two batters later to put Lancers at the corners with one out. Pallas Dominion followed with a sacrifice fly to tally the second run of the thrid inning. Shelby Grau launched the first pitch she saw over the outfield wall to claw the Lancers back to 6-4.
In the see-saw battle, Chelsea would score 2 more runs before the Lancers would knot the game at 8-8 in the fourth inning on home runs from Olivia DenDooven, Gianna Kershbaum and Anna Chellman.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Shelby Grau singled to knock in the go ahead and eventual winning run.
