Lakeshore Lancers JV wins contest against Caledonia on Monday, 8-5

In the first inning, Caledonia got their offense started when an error scored two runs for Caledonia.

In the top of the second inning, Lakeshore Lancers JV tied things up at two when Tess Foster singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

After Lakeshore Lancers JV scored one run in the top of the fourth, Caledonia answered with one of their own. Lakeshore Lancers JV scored when Lieske induced Claire Robinson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored. Caledonia then answered when Moore grounded out, scoring one run.

Lakeshore Lancers JV pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Hannah Stankiewicz singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Olivia DenDooven singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Foster singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Robinson singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Foster pitched Lakeshore Lancers JV to victory. She allowed nine hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out six.

Lieske took the loss for Caledonia. She lasted five innings, allowing 11 hits and seven runs while striking out five.

Lakeshore Lancers JV scattered 13 hits in the game. Foster, Stankiewicz, and DenDooven each managed multiple hits for Lakeshore Lancers JV. Foster went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Lakeshore Lancers JV in hits.

Caledonia saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Moore, Heaton, and Samp each collected multiple hits for Caledonia. Caledonia didn’t commit a single error in the field. Degood had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
