The Lakeshore Lancers traveled to Husky Stadium for the second year in a row, but this time to play the host team Portage Northern. Coming off a win over Holland West Ottawa, the Lancers looked to gain revenge against the Huskies after last year’s 17-0 loss at Al Stockman Stadium. The runningback duo the Huskies feature, including MLive Top 10 Tyler Amos, combined for 340 yards of rushing offense, while holding Lakeshore to 98 yards, on their way to a 14-6 victory over the Lancers.
Aiden Jackson scored the Lancers lone touchdown on a 12 yard screen pass from Jimmy Gillette. The Lancers led 6-0 at halftime after holding Portage Northern scoreless after four attempts inside the Lakeshore 5 yard line. Northern’s quarterback was held to 1 for 4 passing. The Huskies ran the ball 52 times in the game.
Lakeshore returns to Al Stockman Stadium next Friday, the 13th, against the Niles Vikings. The Vikings have not beaten Lakeshore since 2003.
