The Portage Northern Huskies handed Lakeshore their second loss of the season in the SMAC West opener for both schools at Al Stockman Stadium Thursday night. The Lancers were shutout at home for the first time since November 2002 as the Huskies won 17-0.
The Lancers rushed for 121 yards led by Aidan Jackson’s 46 yards on 15 carries with Jakobe Young adding 36 yards on five carries for a 7.0 average.
The Lancer defense faced 56 offensive plays for the Huskies, with Dawson Crowder leading the team in tackles with six, two for a loss. Treyjen Keim added five tackles, with another four by Bret Gerlach and Zeke Rohl. The Lancers had seven total tackles for a loss.
Lakeshore travel to Vikings Stadium next Friday to take on Niles in the SMAC West. Lakeshore is 24-2 against the Vikings, and Niles has not beaten the Lancers since September 26, 2003.
