For the second game in a row, JJ Bushu led the Lancers in scoring with 15 points, and Ben Brower added 12 points as Lakeshore bounced the Bearcats 54-33 Tuesday night inside Lancer Gym.
The Lakeshore defense continued its strong performance against the Battle Creek Central Bearcats. Last Friday night, the St. Joe Bears roared out to a lead over the Lancers, but Lakeshore flipped the script like a fierce cold front and largely shutdown their rival. Tonight, Battle Creek Central struggled to find consistent offense as the Lancers limited the Bearcats to 6 for 22 shooting in the first half, while Lakeshore shot a crisp 12 for 18 providing the 30-14 halftime lead. The Bearcats were held to four third quarter points before erupting for 15 points in the final frame.
For the game, Lakeshore shot 19-33 (.576) to the Bearcats 13-50 (.260). Battle Creek Central won the turnover battle, converting 17 Lakeshore turnovers into 13 points. JJ Bushu scored a game high 15 points while no Bearcat scored more than nine points. Ja’Kobe Young led the Lancers in rebounding with nine and finished the game with seven points.
Lakeshore finishes 2019 with a 3-0 mark heading into the winter break. The Lancers open 2020 with a January 7th home battle against Cass County rival Dowagiac. Game time is 7P.M.
